Remove password from PDF on Mac

On macOS you can often remove a password using Preview, if you have the password and permission.

Steps
  1. Open the PDF in Preview and enter the password if prompted.
  2. Go to File → Export… (or Save As…) and export a new PDF.
  3. If the exported file is still restricted, use the Unlock PDF tool to remove restrictions.
  4. Always confirm you have permission to modify the document.
